Not to be confused with St. John Virgin Island, but this is on the East Coast of Canada.

Where is at

St. John

Is the capital of the Canadian Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. This is located on the eastern tip of the Avalon Peninsula on Newfoundland Island. It is the largest as well. Besides, Greenland is the most eastern city in North America.

It is believed that John Cabot sailed into the harbor on the Nativity of John the Baptist in 1497.  That is an exciting thing.

St. John played a role in the following:

  • War of 1812
  • Received the first transatlantic wireless signal.

St. John has some history with fires, yea fires.

The most famous fire was the great fire of 1892, which took the city’s east end and included the major commercial area. Dang fires.
