Reno Nevada… Not much to see. As we didn’t do much here. Just stayed the night and drove through on the way to Eureka, California.
The day started out bright and early 6 AM and we were on the road at 7:35 AM. That is after doing the following:
- Showering
- Re-packing the cooler
- Packing all the stuff we took out the night before
- Packing the car better so it looks organized
- Eating breakfast
Breakfast was a joke, you have people just standing in your way since they either don’t know what they want or doesn’t know that other people are trying to get drinks, forks and such.
Avenue of the Giants
We headed on I-80 until we got to the 20 and headed towards the Avenue of the Giants, which is about a 6-hour drive. This drive took us past Clear Lake it was a beautiful place.
Drive Thru Tree
Got to the 101 and headed North West and got off at Leggett small little town and went to Myers Flat, and went to the drive thru the tree place. It cost us $5.00 and our car barely fit in. Here are some pictures of it.
We ate lunch there, which was meat and cheese, crackers, carrots, olives, and pickles. Really didn’t fill me up, but that is what snacks are for.
Founders Grove
Passed thru Garberville, really nothing there, back on the 101 heading North. Found Founders Grove, Humboldt, Redwoods State Park. It was an interesting spot. Went on a one-half mile walk around the State Park. Saw a lot of trees, tall trees, big trunks and a lot of fallen trees. While we were there branches broke off and fell to the ground. So the saying if a tree falls in the forest does it make a sound. I can tell you yes it does. OK, a whole tree didn’t fall but the branches sure do make a huge sound. So I can imagination what a whole tree would make, probably scare the living crap out of you. That is what it would do.
Finally got to Eureka ate at Marie Chandlers, the pie was good but the food could have been better. Not quite what I remembered. But, at least the pie made up for it.
Tomorrow is another day.
