West Coast cruising

Carnival announced on February 9, 2018, that Splendor the 3,012 passenger cruise ship that did 7 night Mexican Rivera Cruises.  Meaning that now that Carnival has upgraded the Long Beach Cruise Port at the Dome. Leaving only Inspiration and Imagination doing the 3 and 4-day cruises out of Long Beach. Was this the right move for Carnival?

Splendor Leaving

I was bummed that another ship was leaving the west coast, yes the West Coast doesn’t have that many options like the South East Coast have. But, still, it sucks that Splendor is leaving for the land down under, Australia, in December of 2019.

Rare Move

In December 2019 Carnival will be placing a new ship in California. The new ship will be called Carnival Panorama it will carry 3,960 passengers and it will be doing the 7 nights to Mexico. So, this is a rare move for not only Carnival but for any cruise line, to place a brand-new ship to be based on the west coast. This ship will boast the following:

  • 800-foot-long sky ride around its top deck
  • A massive deck top water park
  • Other deck-top fun zones
  • Dozen eateries, bars, and lounges
  • Some of the largest for Carnival

The deployment came officially when Carnival unveiled a major makeover of its cruise terminal in Long Beach.

So the commitment that Carnival is putting in the West Coast seems to be impressive.
