The weather plays a significant role in whether you enjoy something or not. Let’s talk about the weather.
Alaska
We have been to Alaska 2 times before this trip. Let’s break it down.
2015
We came in June, and the weather was nice and sunny, except for Ketichan, where it rained.
2018
We came back, and this time, it was in the last part of May. It stormed for most of the trip, but it was nice and sunny in Ketichan.
2024
Yes, it is approaching the end of the season for cruising to Alaska, and it is getting a bit colder as it is in September. How did the weather fair?
Weather
September 16
We left the house, and I had shorts on. It was nice and warm and felt good
I got to the cruise port, which was nice and sunny in Seattle, Washington.
September 17
It was a sea day, and well, it got colder, and it rained.
September 18
It was a day in Sitka, and it rained and was cold.
September 19
It was a day in Skagway, and it rained and was cold.
September 20
It was a day in Juneau, and well, it rained and wasn’t as cold.
September 21
It was steady, and the boat was rocking, and it was OK temperature-wise. It wasn’t in the 90s but also in the 30s. It never got down that cold, but it wasn’t in the 60s.
There weren’t many waves, but the wind was going strong.
September 22
It was a port day in Victoria, British Columbia, and a lovely sunny day. There was no more rain. Finally, it was a good day. I enjoyed it.
September 23
I was back in Seattle, and it was a nice day. No rain for the day. Which was shocking due to it being in the North West
Thoughts
What do you expect to go to Alaska in September? There will be rain; there is no doubt about it. If you want a sunny time, go south to the Caribbean. The weather was what I thought it was going to be. At least it wasn’t snowing.
It was great in Alaska. You need to go.
