Power Up: The Rise of Public Charging Ports   Recently updated !

As a business professional, your phone is running out of battery, so you need to charge it. What do you do?

Low Battery

So you don’t need to be a business professional to have your phone die. You can be a social media consumer and kill your battery watching TikTok all day. You see one of these.

Be careful when plugging the USB cable into that socket. You will often see this type of plug in many public places. The plugs are designed to charge your phone or device.

But

Sometimes they can be set up differently. Hackers often use these to transfer data from your phone. Yep, that is right. Something so nice and convenient can be detrimental to your life.

When you plug in a phone or device, the default is a two-way data transfer. This means that a hacker can access your data. They also place a virus on your device. Fun times.

 What to do

If you have the choice, use a plug instead of just the USB cord.

You can use something called a data blocker.  It looks something like this.

Careful

Whatever you do, just be careful out there. Something so nice can be so bad. Just be cautious about how you charge your phone or device. Or just put it down and enjoy your life. There is more to life than your phone.
