Disembarkation, Quantum of the Seas

That day that everyone doesn’t want to see come. When you are kicked off the ship. Otherwise known as disembarkation.

Night before

We got our luggage out before the time since we went to a show that night. I kept my carry-on with me, so it was nice to help out with the misplacing things.

Morning time

We finished packing and then went down to eat in the dining room. Had our last meal on the ship. We came back up to the room and got our bags. We found our room steward and gave him an additional tip. Then we headed out.

They said that departure time was 8:30 AM, so I took that as a suggestion. We descended the elevator and proceeded to get off the ship. However, this was a disorganized mess.

Disembarkation

As I mentioned before, this was a disorganized mess. They guided us through one of the side doors and out onto the deck, where we stood for over 30 minutes as we slowly made our way down the deck to get off. When we finally got to the point of exit, the slowdown was that there were three lines, all converging to two people checking people off the ship.

One line would come up and make the other two stop, and then the other two could go after about 5 minutes. Then it would be fine for 5 minutes, and that special line had to go through. I am just glad it wasn’t raining. They will have to rethink how to do that disembarkation.

We found our luggage and then walked out of the terminal, and there was no customs check, which I thought was odd. But this is the second one that I have been on that didn’t have customs checks, and I think that is very odd.

Parking lot

We had a paid shuttle service, and once we got out to the parking lot, There were a couple of different ways to get there.

One was for Paid transfers.

One was for Taxi’s

One was the shuttle to the app rides and shuttle services.

However, we saw the paid transfers and got into that one. We were there for about 30 minutes. Then, I found a worker and asked what this line was for. She said it was for paid transfers. I said OK. If our paid transfer is Seattle Express, and they are over in RR, can we go there?

She said, of course. This line is just for the bus transfer to the airport.

We are probably to blame for not reading the signs correctly. It is a lot different than the last time I was there.

Thoughts

The last two times I have been here, I have been on a different cruise line, and the disembarkation was completely different.

However, I will need to take my time and read the signs correctly, and then we won’t stand in the line. I could make an excuse, but I won’t.

The embarkation process was a mess. It could have been better, and people shouldn’t have to wait while the special line gets off without an issue. Yes, they might be VIPs or something like that. But it just looks bad, and the common folk have to wait. I’m just happy it wasn’t raining.
