Did I pack correctly for Alaska

Going to Alaska in September could be cold. In the past, I didn’t wear a raincoat or warm clothes; I usually wore shorts.

Did I pack right

Now the question is, did I pack correctly?

Well, I did overpack on this trip. I always do. I took the following:

  • Six polo shirts
  • Three causal pants
  • Two pairs of Levis
  • Two nicer pullover jackets
  • Two swimming suits
  • Two swim shirts
  • Three t-shirts
  • Two causal shirts
  • Ten pairs of socks
  • Ten days’ worth of underwear.
  • Ankle brace
  • Three pairs of shoes.
    • Two causal pairs
    • 1 Tennis shoes
  • Two hats
  • 1 raincoat
  • One heavy sweatshirt
  • Two pairs of shorts

Yeah, a lot of stuff. I could have easily cut down on the polo shirts and just brought shirts with all my pants.

I only wore the Levis off the ship, so if they got wet, that would be fine.

Overpacked

Yes, I overpacked, and I really need to get that packing down. I took a 24-inch check-in and a small carry-on.

Packed correctly

Besides overpacking, I feel like I packed correctly. I had plenty of warm clothes. I mean, if it was snowing and colder, I might have been in trouble, but it wasn’t

I feel like I packed correctly, overpacked, yes. But that is just me.

Thoughts

You have to consider what you want to accomplish while packing. I know I can leave some polo shirts at home, but I always think, “What if I need them?”I never needed all those clothes until I hadn’t bought them.

I need to weed out a few things and do better packing.

It is a work in progress.
