Avenue of the Giants


This is a scenic highway in northern California running thru the Humboldt Redwoods State Park. It is part of the old alignment of the U.S. Route 101. It is a two lane highway

Founder’s Grove

This consists of a ½ mile tour of the grove where you will see the Founder’s Tree which stands at 324.99 ft tall.

In 1917, several prominent men traveled to Humblodt and Del Norte counties to view this redwood groves. They founded the Save-the-redwoods league. They have contributed over 57 Million dollars to protect 170,000 acres of redwood land in 35 California State Parks, Redwood National Park and Sequoia National Park.

On the walking tour you will see things about the following:

This is a privately-owned place and has been operated by the Underwood Family since 1922. It is about 180 miles from San Francisco and a long drive from Reno, Nevada.

It costs about $5.00 to enter, it is on a private property, so it pays for the upkeep of the stuff.
