Started the day off at the Light House Inn in Crescent City, CA and then we headed out to the lighthouse (Battery Point) there in town, it was low tide so we could walk over to it. It was a slippery walk and if you weren’t careful you could fall into what little water that was there.

Light Houses
Then up to Coquille River LightHouse originally named Bandon Light and it was commissioned in 1895 and it was first lit on February 29, 1896, this guided mariners past the dangerous sandbars into the Coquille River. The town almost went bankrupt after a wildfire swept through the area and destroyed the city of Brandon. The lighthouse started to deteriorate over the next 37 years due to neglect and vandalism.
In 1976 when major restoration began, the light keepers and quarters were too far gone to be repaired so they were removed.
Then up to the Umpqua Lighthouse State Park, this was built in 1855 and lit up in 1857. It was prone to flooding which led to the erosion of the of the sand embankment. In 1864 the building collapsed which led to a new lighthouse to be built. However, it wasn’t until 1888 before Congress approved it. The new lighthouse was lit up in 1894. This was built on the same time as Heceta headlight and built 100 feet above the river.
Long Day
Stopped over at La Roca Mexican Restaurant in Newport, Oregon and had some good Mexican food.
This place was really good. Had some great salsa the best I have had in a long time. It was nice to sit down and relax.
Got to the beach house in Lincoln City, Oregon. It is located on Road’s End beach.
It was a long day.
