Tuacahn, Center for the Arts

Who would have thought that you could see some great plays in St. George, Utah? Well, you can, and it is a great spot.

Tuacahn

This is located at the mouth of Padre Canyon, right by Snow Canyon Park. See below under Location.

This was founded by playwright Douglas C. Stewart in 1995, with the help of Hyrum W. Smith, a local businessman. They wanted to tell the story of Utah’s ancient inhabitants and pioneer settlers. This is settled on an 80-acre plot.

The set included

A 45,000-gallon water-holding pond

River spillway

Drainage system for a flash-flood sequence

The Amphitheater seats about 2,500 people and is an open-air seating arrangement, so if it rains, it rains.

It also features the following:

  • Hafen Teater
    • It is a 328-seat indoor proscenium arch facility that is part of the Tuacahn High School for the Performing Arts Facility.
  • Black Box and Dance Studio
    • The black box theater and dance studio. Working spaces for school classes.

Dang, that was a lot of productions.

I have seen a few of those shows, and we saw all three in 2024.

I took the production list from

Tuacahn. (2024, November 8). In Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuacahn

My Thoughts

This is a must-go place if you are into plays. It is a nice place to visit. It is a way out there, but it is well worth it.

Go and take a look at it. It will be worth your drive.
