What is the deal with Heber City, Utah? It is just a tiny little town in Wasatch County, Utah. Let’s talk about what Heber City is all about.

Origins

It was settled in 1859 by the following people

  • Robert Broadhead
  • James Davis
  • James Gurr

John W. Witt built the first house. Some enterprising people from Provo settled in Heber, where the first plowing occurred. Now, the grain is waving where the sagebrush once lived, and the coyote howled.

Geography

It is located in the Wasatch Back and is close to three reservoirs.

They are very cold, but some good fishing.

A 32-mile railroad line connected Heber City; however, a part of that railroad is used for the Heber Valley Railroad and is home to the Polar Express.

The highway system has 2 highway systems that run through Heber, and they are.

  • U.S Route 40
    • This one goes up to Park City and Interstate 80
  • U.S. Route 189
    • This highway comes up from Provo

You can get to Salt Lake City in about 60 minutes and to Interstate 15 via HWY 189 to Provo, which takes about 25 minutes.

They do have a High Valley transit that goes to

  • Kamas Valley
  • Kimball Junction
  • Salt Lake City

Also, the intercity transportation to Vernal and Salt Lake City twice daily.

Thoughts

I like the city of Heber. It is a lovely small town; it is growing, but it still maintains the small-town feel. If you do not like small cities, this isn’t a town for you. But it is a nice getaway from the big city.
